This application package is for Canadian citizens and permanent residents who wish to sponsor:

  • a spouse, common-law or conjugal partner; or
  • dependent children.

This sponsorship package includes three parts:

  • Part 1: The sponsorship application
    You, the sponsor, must fill out the sponsorship forms. Use the checklist provided (IMM5491) to make sure all the right forms are filled out and you have gathered the proper documents to support your application.
  • Part 2: The application for permanent residence
    The person you are sponsoring and any family members included in the application must fill out the immigration forms. You, the sponsor, can send the forms to them or have them print the forms from this page.
  • Part 3: The region specific forms
    The person you are sponsoring must fill out the forms specific to their region. They should use the checklist from the information guide specific to their region (Appendix A) to make sure they fill out all the right forms. You, the sponsor, can send them the forms or have them print the forms from this page.
